Next time you get a non-genuine message, post an MGADiag report - from the sounds of it, you have a race condition, rather than a software problem with that.

As far as the windowsupdate log goes, there's no change, so we'll have to get more aggressive...

Run the fixit from here... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058
you'll have to wait a while for the Check for updates again afterwards

Hello once more! Ran the fixit, and it was able to find/fix 3 of 4 problems. Screenshot attached!

Going to see what Windows Update has to say now...

As an update, Windows Update is still failing.

Once again, I tried a singular update from 8/11/2015 and it failed almost instantly. It acted like it was going to download/install it for all of about .8 seconds, and failed with I believe the same error code.

Unfortunately, people use this stupid laptop all day so it makes it kind of hard to work with you guys on here. By the time I have it to myself, if I need to work on it, it gets late and I'm ready for bed... hence my long replies, which I apologize for.

I may have saved a screenshot of the error, I don't remember. I've been trying to do things like that since my time with it is sketchy at best, but as for the Windows Update log... I'm not sure if it'll be helpful or not; Windows constantly tries to install "update 1 of 1" every time it's shut down. I don't know if it amends that file every time it does this, or creates a new one.

Edit: I went ahead and zipped up the Windows Update log and attached it to this reply.
