Cant update IE10->11 because a prerequisite update 'not applicable'

    Hey chaps,

I can't upgrade to Win 10 without upgrading my IE to 11 (for some reason).

Whenever I try and upgrade IE through windows update it fails with Code 9C59 error.

I successfully rolled back IE from 10 to 9 but this made no difference.

I also went through this this list of IE11 prerequisite updates. One of them- KB number 2533623 will not install because 'The update is not applicable to your computer'.

    How do I resolve this?

    Thanks

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Cool ok. I did those instructions.

System Update Readiness Tool ran fine with no problems.

    SFC Scan has no problems.

Windows update error code is Code 9C59.

Re. uploading the CBS logs at C:\Windows\Logs the CBS.log file alone is 180MB, so even with deleting CbsPersist it is too big, please advise?

I uploaded the other log you requested.

    Thanks!

Step four in the instructions that NoelDP pointed you to asks that you compress a copy of the entire folder. (Windows Update Posting Instructions) once compressed, it should upload.

Yes but because the contents of the folder are almost 200MB the compressed folder is way above the 8MB limit (compresses to 27MB). However I do have site hosting so I uploaded it there, see here. Should probably have done that straight away!

... so post the files to a fileshare site (OneDrive or DropBox preferably) and post a link - with luck I'll be able to retrieve the necessary data.

Hello! I have solved this problem on another forum, please ignore it.

In the end I managed to get win 10 without updating IE.

    Thanks for your help.

    Goodbye sevenforums!
