CompatTelRunner.exe

My Avast Internet Security popped-up a message yesterday asking if I wanted to Allow/Deny the file CompatTelRunner.exe to run. I Denied.
I read a few posts on various forums about CompatTelRunner.exe & not exactly sure how it got on my comfuser, since I don't allow automatic updates & prefer to check for updates myself.

In any case, I did find articles that this is related to Update KB2952664 & it did get on my comfuser.
Is uninstalling KB2952664 enough to wipe CompatTelRunner.exe off my comfuser/is there more to it?

Wouldn't hurt to download and run Malwarebytes (free), dont forget to Uncheck enable full trial version.
Its part of the W10 upgrade process, it was flagged because its a telemtry prog and Avast hasn't updated the False/posative table

Compattelrunner is part of the OS - specifically, it's part of the updates that prepare the system for Windows 10 installation and occasionally send MS reports of potential compatibility problems so that they can be incorporated into the process.

DO NOT just attempt to delete the file(s) concerned - this is likely to cause Windows Update to stop functioning.

You can uninstall the relevant updates and hide them, if you want.

I'll try uninstalling this tomorrow as well as scan w/Malwarebytes & Avast.

I am NOT going to get 10 for a few more months & don't want/need this on my computer. Plus, I checked today & even though I have Windows Update set to 'Never check for updates' (I like to check myself), Microsoft has installed 1 update (KB915597 twice) w/o my knowledge. I understand these are Windows Defender Definition updates & I that's ok, but I did NOT ask for them myself.

Could there be a way Microsoft is automatically turning on updates briefly w/o user knowledge?
I also read Microsoft is going to slip user-tracking tools into 7 via updates KB3068708, KB3022345, KB3075249 & KB3080149.
This is a smart move Microsoft!

Defender updates are installed by Defender and not by Windows Update - WU is simply the mechanism used by default.

I didn't get a chance to do the uninstalling today.

When I type 'Update' into the Orb, click on Windows Update, choose View Update History; I can see both Windows Defender Definition Updates.

When I go through Control Panel>Programs>Programs & Features>Installed Updates; I don't see these 2 Windows Defender Definition Updates.

I never checked before, but is this normal?

Perfectly normal - Defender updates aren't uninstallable in the same way as ordinary updates - in fact I'm not certain they are uninstallable at all.

After having to uninstall a few updates (KB2977759, KB2952664, KB3068708, KB3022345, KB3075249 & KB3080149; I did a full computer search for the word Compattelrunner & none were found. I hope I did get rid of this completely.

I then did a BootTime Scan w/Avast, a Full System Scan w/Avast & a Full System Scan w/MalwareBytes.
I've attached the results below. Please let me know if anything is bad.
