Win7 takes forever to apply updates

Hey everyone. I do not think I am alone on this problem. My computer has become a little "old" applying updates. When it actually did "download" the updates, it restarted and when it booted up to install the updates, it took three hours. After three hours, it failed to install updates and reverted to normal, which took an additional 20 minutes. How do I get around this problem?

    Cheers

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please try this fix (setting DNS servers to Google):

Windows 7 Says "Checking for updates", but hangs there

I had the same issue with unsuccessful updates installation and after applying this fix it worked without any problems.
