Fresh install of Home Premium update never continues

    > I don't speak German but the .iso I found for some reason installed in German. Woe is me <

Just did a fresh install of Home Premium and activated it with the intention of installing Windows 10 afterwards but I can't get Windows Update to do anything. Just stuck on this screen

have tried a variety of stop and start command prompts and restartings, they haven't seemed to do anything for me, I left it for an hour before I tried anything. There are 4 files in my C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download right now and they haven't changed from their minute file size since they appeared. What can I do?

Hi inaniloquent & welcome to sevenforums.

Windows 7 updates are taking a long time fresh installs & repair installs. Usually less than 6 hours (some much longer 24+)

If you have 8 gig ram only install 100 the first round of updates. If you try to install all 200+ & 13 optional, then you will receive out of memory error at about 160-170. Windows update uses RAM to store the updates until all of them can be verified. You can open task manager, click on performance tab and watch the RAM load. If you have 4 gig try 50. 16 gig should handle all at once.

    Check your PM (private messages)

in searchbox type Power Options, click radio button high performance, click change setting, put computer to sleep NEVER.

Start updates and hit the hay. Be there in the morning.

By the way, if you update your German version to win10 it will be in German too.
