    Windows 7 won't update

    Hello all,
I have an iMac from late 2009 or so that I have Windows 7 Professional SP1 running on. It's a fresh install from the DVD I have and genuine. However, Windows Update will not update. Upon checking for updates, Windows Update sits there and says it's checking for updates. Yesterday, I let it sit there for 2 hours "Checking for updates" but that's all it does. I did find instructions on another thread on this forum that included batch files and a fixit tool to fix registration and component issues. I have ran these files and the fixit tool claims it fixed a variety of issues but there still aren't any updates coming in.

I had this issue happen one other time on a PC and those batch files and fixit tools did the trick! Doesn't seem like it's working in this situation however.

I just had the same issue. I did a recovery back to out of box state which would be around 2011 when the PC was manufactured. I let it search for updates overnight and it was still searching the next day. It was suggested by Brds7t7 on this forum to try KB3102810. I have tried it on other PCs before but there apparently was a catch. When I downloaded the KB3102810 it began the stand alone installer searching for updates on the PC. Since it took so long I thought it was not a fix so I always stopped it, but if you let it go it will complete. It searched for 1.75 hours and then a dialog box appeared asking did I want to install KB3102810. I selected yes which took a minute or so. Then the search for updates took about 2 hours and found 225 updates. I started installing them which is taking a log time.
