    Windows update hanging

    Hi

I bought a new hard drive and reinstalled windows 7, but I'm struggling to get windows update to work properly. As soon as service pack 1 was installed updates just seem to hang.

I ran the readiness tool which initiated a hotfix. Then I ran the update troubleshooter. It said: update error 0x80070005(2015-12-04-T-08_46_40P) Says it's not fixed.

It actually helped me. I had updates hanging on me after restoring back to out of box condition. See the last post in the thread UsernameIssues suggested.

If you are getting error codes when attempting to manually install one of the newer Windows Update Clients, then I'll have to let others help try to help you. I thought that the main issue was that the Windows Update search process was taking way too long - thus, you thought it was hung.
