PSA: One of the updates today installs gwx despite group policy

Just did updates today, 1 important and 4 optional. Have not researched yet which one exactly but one of those put GWX back on my PC despite having previously disabled OS Upgrades through group policy. When I checked my group policy is was set back to "Not Configured".

    KB915597
    KB2952664
    KB3102429
    KB3035583
    KB3112148

Edit: Seems like KB3035583 and KB2952664 are the culprits.

Hello Jpow mate if you want to get rid of 10 stuff try this Ultimate Outsider - Software Downloads I have it on all my machines and it hunts out that 10 stuff.

I also delete any GWX entries in my registry HKEYS - LOCAL_MACHINE and CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft> Windows > Current version - right clcik and delete.

    Jpow,
In August of 2015, you posted that you had removed "every possible gwx and related windows updates". If you removed KB3080351 (which first came out before August), then what good is setting the group policy setting that you mentioned? What app is going to read that GPO setting?

Just to take every precaution against it. I previously removed and hidden any gwx related updates i could find, including the ones in the sticky thread above, not sure why those two appeared again.

@ICIT2LOL just installed this today -thanks

Those two appeared again because those two were changed...
...so, you will get the again.

If you removed KB3080351, then your group policy setting might be worthless.

    HI
Yep repeaters get used to it and review the updates before you download and install them

Group policy does not stop updates from being downloaded it only might stop the install from completing successfully or being run that's all.
    10 might actually still download
