Office not installed but updates appear

I have a machine that I use for a specific purpose. I don't need nor do I have office installed on that machine. Yet I keep getting security updates for Office 2007 Suite.

Are these supposed to be installed on machines where office is not presnt?

    Thanks.

Go to Control Panel / Programs and Features. You may find that there is some component of Microsoft Office installed - a free trial version, a viewer, etc. Uninstall it.

No, the only MS program installed is the Excel viewer (aside from Visual C & Net Framework). Don't know why any of those would call for Office updates (other than viewer updates, which are generally separate).

At any rate, I checked update settings and found that 'other MS products' was checked, so, while the mystery isn't necessarily solved, I think my problem is.

    Appreciate the response - thanks!

Excel viewer is part of Office so that's why you are getting the Office updates.
