On this computer, I'm actually using Windows 8.1. I do use a Kingston flash drive, but it says it's for HP ProBooks so it won't fix anything for me.

I would like your advice on installing recommended updates. I just did a clean install for a friend and installed the convenience rollup, then finished installing the rest of the updates. I left the box for recommended updates unchecked. Do you think I should install these too?

Under 'Important Updates' drop down 'Never check for updates (Not recommended)' item is MISSING.
I completely know how important it is to keep the Windows update turned ON, yet I prefer to TURN OFF Windows update for a specific work...
I've noticed that when I put an "Optional" update (Win 7) into the Hidden "folder," it is then marked "Recommended." If I "restore" a Hidden Recommended update, it then changes to "Optional" when it is restored.

During update 2 of 9 updates failed.
Reason: Powersupply got cut off.
I think the 2 updates where downloaded, but are not installed.
Updates in question: kb982018 and kb2529073.
Q: Is there a way to clear the updates and do the updating again?
