Windows 7 Genuine OEM on new motherboard/CPU
Hi,
As my old CPU and motherboard failed, I had to get a new board and processor. They were not the same because the old CPU and board were discontinued. MS however said that my key was good and I could activate it on the new board/CPU.
Windows activated fine, says its genuine, passed the Genuine Advantage test miraculously, but the question is, if I now go to download/install updates, will it become un genuine or will it become un genuine even if I don't install updates?
I don't see why it should, because in the EULA it says that MS will make an exception if your motherboard fails
as long as its only one PC, which it is. The hard drive which windows 7 was on from the old motherboard is still in my PC, as is all the other old hardware apart from the board and CPU.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Cheers,
