Update searches never end

Windows 7 forum,
Had a disk problem and had to reinstall windows 7 Home Premium.
Since my installation disk was damaged I used a downloaded iso file.
It installed correctly and I was able to activate it with a legal
product key.

I'm having a problem when I try to update windows or drivers.
Windows starts a searching that never ends. I have tried all the fixes
on the internet with no luck. I can access the internet and download

Any suggestions?

You can wait 20+ hours and you should get a list of updates...
..or you can install the latest Windows Update Client and the list should come in quicker.

The KB linked to above replaces KB3102810 which claims to fix:
Installing and searching for updates is slow and high CPU usage occurs in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
Any replacement for KB3102810 should also include the fixes in KB3102810.

Search bar only searches C:\ ?
I like to save downloaded files and stuff like that on individual partitions, trying to keep things organized. However it appears as if the search in the start menu does not search the other partitions of my harddrive. Only the OS partition (C)... Solution?
