Is these January updates safe and withou telemetry or W10 upgrade?

    Hello,

before week Microsoft released these January updates for Windows 7:
    KB3108664
    KB3109560
    KB3110329
    KB3121212
    KB3121918
    KB3123479
    KB3124000
    KB3124001

And my question is. Are these updates safe and clean without any Microsoft telemetry or Enforcement upgrade W10? Thank you in advance.

Hello and welcome SVvagon mate personally I don't know because I cannot keep track of them - some members are on the ball with is crap I just know the KB3035533 is the one I like to steer clear of and I would if I were you not install anything that looks vaguely like containing 10 stuff until you know for sure they are meant for 7 alone.

Now if you are interested and concerned that 10 might creep in you can run the disable batch file from this

Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

One other place I check to see if anything has crept through is in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current version and any entries with GWX in there I just right click and delete it.

ICIT2LOL: I didn't have GWX in registry, because I never installed any upgrading update on W10 (See my list below) .

Bongo: Yes I read this, but some new updates has got secret telemetry or upgrade function. And these updates just are about week old. So, are these January updates safe to install?
    My list of the danger updates for W7 and W8.1 is little more extensive KB2990214 KB3035583 KB2952664 KB2976978 x x x Windows 8.1 KB3021917 KB30443 - Pastebin.com .
And thank you for quick reply :) .

Well that is quite a nice listing SG mate much appreciated because I don't have time to sieve through the updates I just don't install any optionals and have my doubts about recommended too. I have to say I have too many machines and in two different places as the reason I don't look through them.

But nice work mate and I am going to save those and the ones Jerry posted a link for to a doc.:) I can then check my two main machines for them uninstalling them might be another thing but at least I shall be able to pick them out.

Glad you dropped by and hope you stay always need fresh ideas I think and the more heads to use the better the "cook" for fixes

Just as a matter of interest SG - sorry don't know your name - when you find those updates mate do you just uninstall them as my Control Panel and some of my machines do not have that feature - and I am still getting GWX creeping in.

Yes, all the above are "clean."

In this post, you'll find them listed along with a note of what they do. I only saw a previously-hidden W10-related update reappear this month as "Recommended" and promptly hid it again.

This seems top go on and on and I am constantly deleting GWX from my HKEYS - they must have people working full time on convoluted updates it beggars belief.
