Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I won't argue with either of you since I stopped updating myself. :) AFAIC the biggest threat to my W7 system at this point is coming from the MS updates!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64b ServicePack1

Thx Remm - I will give Sandboxie another try on my XP laptop. I already found a good tutorial on the forum there.

Meanwhile on this pc I will follow your advise and update only just before next patch Thuesday.

Wouldn't it be a help for those that still update if a list of the dangerous patches would be kept up to date in a sticky?
I am trying to do this in How to remove Windows 10 upgrade updates in Windows 7 and 8 but you have to go to post 850 to get it

There comes a point of diminishing returns. When the list gets so long with (likely) more to be added every month, it becomes a task with no payoff, considering any major bugs or security issues have long since been patched. That would be my guess as to why a sticky may not be embraced by the mods, but JMO.

intermittent BSODs coming back
Last fall I was getting increasing numbers of BSODs until finally, in January, I did a clean re-install of Windows. They stopped happening but, of course, as time passed I slowly added programs back into the computer; I assume that one of them has something to do with the BSODs coming back, but...

Old BSOD coming back
So about a year ago I was getting consistent bsods, apparently caused by a conflict between my graphics card and the intel graphics. That got solved by setting my computer to only use the nvidia card and not switch between them. Fast forward to now, after many months and a few updates for both the...
