Windows 7: Windows Updates

Windows Updates

A couple of KB's came down the pipe.

KB2952664 which is is a repeat but is now considered 'optional' instead of 'recommended' when it first appeared.

The other, KB3135445, applies to improvements to Windows Update Client and is also categorized as 'optional'.

Hid KB2952664 like I did last time but am inclined to download KB3135445 since it applies to Windows Update in general.

Windows 7 Pro

HelloItsMeAgain: glad that you asked this question. I was wondering the same thing when I manually checked Windows Update this morning, and saw the same 2 updates. (That Windows Update is broken on my machine is described here.)

KB2952664 for sure is associated with the dreaded Win 10 spyware forced upgrade.

I finally found a semi-decent description of KB3135445 here, check it out.

I decided to hide both of them.

Thanks for posting the article, uptrix.

Yeah, after further thought, and after reading the suggested article regarding those two recent updates, I decided to hide both of them since they're optional.

Strangely, as I went to hide them this morning another optional update appeared, KB3123862, as Layback mentions, is directly related W10. It mentions that it "adds capabilities to some computers that lets users easily learn about Windows 10 or start an upgrade to Windows 10". Yes, another sneak attack by MS.

Quite the Shakespearean tragedy as of late. To download or not to download, that is the question!

Cheers all.
