    Unable to Install Certain Updates

    Hi all!

So here's my problem. I never realized it, but my Windows Updates have been turned off for a while. Like, over a year...

Anyway, I've been dabbling in Korean, and wanted to install the Korean language pack so that I could type Korean characters. That's when I realized there were over 100 updates available.

I selected all the important updates, plus the Korean LP, but in the end, there were some that would not install, including the Korean LP.

I searched around, and other people who had the same problem were directed to download and install the updates manually. All except the Korean, which wasn't listed. I tried all that, and they all failed as well.

As a last resort, I did a full System Restore to the days before the update, and tried again. Still no luck.

    They are as follows:
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3060716)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3071756)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3097966)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3126587)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3126593)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3080149)
Korean Language Pack - Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB2483139)

Every time I shut the computer down, it tries to install them, but fails.
I realize that by not updating for a year, I was taking a risk, so therefore I'm comfortable simply hiding the updates so they don't re-attempt each time. However, I really do want that Korean pack. I get an error "80073712".

    Thanks in advance.

As for the Error Codes, all I get is what's in the screenshot (see attached).

I know the Posting Instructions had a screenshot showing exactly where to look, but the hyperlink or picture doesn't appear for me.

I've tried to attached is the CBS log, but when I select the file to Upload, the "Manage Attachments" window just says, "Uploading File(s) - Please Wait" and "Sending request to www.sevenforums.com" and hangs there. I'm able to attach SFCDETAILS.TXT but not CBS.ZIP. Even tried a CBS.RAR file. Please advise.

I clicked on the link Wben353 provided and followed the instructions. Nowhere in there did it mention a Mgadiag tool.

However, in the interest in obtaining help, I searched around and found it myself. The results are here:

    Activate

    Hi CritcalMass,
    Please download and run KB971033.
The report is showing as unactivated, this will repair it.
Rerun the MGAdiag and post the report.

Dont think it will work, as you have a retail motherboard with an OEM product key, which makes it non-genuine.

I should have known. A guy I worked with 2 years ago told me that if I wanted to buy the components for a new computer, for $100 he would assemble it and install Windows 7 "using the activation key from his old computer" which he wasn't using any more, because his new computer was Windows 8.

I Googled that update, downloaded, and installed it. Rebooted and then ran MGAdiag again. Results are below. I will try to reinstall the updates now.

BTW, love the avatar, but didn't like the show. Well, I did until I was forced to watch men deep-kissing other men. I don't care what people do in their lives, but I didn't need that in my Doctor Who.

    I do see a problem.

You have a Gigabyte retail motherboard using a OEM/SLP COA key.
That alone is not correct or legal.

You also have this in your log.
    Windows Product ID: 00426-OEM-8992662-00006
    SYSTEM><Manufacturer>Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.</Manufacturer><Model>GA-78LMT-USB3
    Which is for this.

    Win 7,Ultimate,ACER/GATEWAY/PACKARD,XXXXX-OEM-8992662-00006

    Their again indicates counterfeit installation.

A Clean Install of Windows 7 with the proper COA matching key is what is needed.
