KB3114887: WU keeps offering it after installing it on 3/9?

    Good evening,

Windows Update keeps offering KB3114887 (a MS Office 2010, 32-bit update) despite the fact it was already installed on March 9th. I have confirmed this by looking at the list of installed updates.

My question: Could someone please explain why this is occurring and how to get Windows Update to quit offering an update it has already installed?

Thank you for your time and any help!

Pete mate rather obvious but have you tried hiding the thing?

I would also you set update settings to what I have in my pic - personally I install very few updates these days because of the nonsense with the updates that are 10 related and come across as a usual update.

Maybe option three in this tutorial will help: Windows Update - Reset

    Hi ICIT2LOL,

Much obliged for the info you provided! I'd forgotten about the 'Hide update' option. In comparing the settings in your screenshot with mine, everything was the same, except I had my update preference set to 'Download updates, but let me choose when to install them'. (I changed it to what you recommended & also 'hid' that pesky update).

Also...a short while back I downloaded a program called "GWX Control Panel", by a guy named Josh (business name, Ultimate Outsider), to help keep any of those Win 10 updates you referred to from getting installed on this machine. (I'd seen the application recommended either in this forum or another). Thus far, it seems to be working o.k.

Like some others, I've tended to wait a few days before installing 'Patch Tuesday' updates, just to see if anyone is reporting problems with any of them here.

Thanks very much again for getting back with me & the info you included!

[EDIT - (for UsernameIssues)]: Just now saw your reply after posting my response to ICIT2LOL. Thank you also, for the info you provided!

    Cheers!

Yes mate I have that GWX on all my machines (on the desktop) too and when you use it - it will not show recent updates but because I have given up on them to all intents and purposes it doesn't bother me. After the initial work was done I only use the button in my pic now

You might be interested in downloading and running the second batch file from this too.

Thanks very much for the additional follow-up, ICIT2LOL!

I'll give it a try later today or tomorrow. (The Daylight Savings Time change we just had here overnight, always seems to really do a number on me).

    Have a good one!
