    For your Bios shoot over to the Home page for your lappy.
    You will also need the Bios utility prog to do it.
    No biggy as your running 32 bit.

    When I tried to install it it says "The update is not applicable to your computer"

    Thanks a lot for your help Roy. After installing the update I ran the Microsoft Genuine Tool again and W7 appears to be registered properly now - the entries you previously mentioned have disappeared/changed as you said. I still cant download via Windows update though. If and when I can I'll mark this thread as solved, if not I'll report back.

    Reporting back. The 'not genuine' message hasn't appeared since installing the update 2 days ago but unfortunately this months updates still won't install, even if I try to install them individually with the standalone installer. Since I installed last months Windows updates with no problem I've disabled CEIP reporting - could this be causing the problem? As usual any help really appreciated.

    Hi Ed,
    didnt notice it before but its not going to the MS server.

    from an elevated command mode

    slmgr /ckms (note the space)
