    Win 7 Update bug(s)

Not only is Update running a l-o-n-g time searching for updates but if any are finally found and an install attempted (requiring a restart) during the power down/power up the system "hangs" with a warning not to turn off power (similar to BSOD). However the only solution appears to be to power down manually despite the warning msg. The following err recovery accepts "start Win normally" but the "fix" may not be installed. Is this bug related to the poor performance one that has gotten so much adverse attention ?

ADDITIONAL DATA - the "SURT" (system update readiness tool) was downloaded & installed successfully but there is no apparent pgm to run. How is it "launched" ? What does it do ? Why is it named "readiness tool" ?

    Thanx,
    BB

The long wait is par for the course at the moment.
Please DO NOT use the force shutdown method when installing updates, it DOES case further problems in some cases.
