    Windows not Genuine

Hi, I recently had a very bad virus that lead to wiping the hard drive, prior to this I had no issues.
After reloading and 3-4 months later, I have a message appearing stating 'Windows not Genuine'
Also received microsoft update last night and all was successful!
What do I need to do?
    Thanks in anticipation

Hi Buddy, usually the Windows not Genuine error can pop up after a mobo swap, HDD swap or even occasionally after a wipe and reload. Usually a call to the Microsoft activation center will sort this out. They also have a smart phone thingy now so they text you the code and its a lot faster. Go to computer/ properties / and see if you can activate by phone I find that is the best way. If you talk to a human tell them what happened if not and if asked how many computers have used this key always say 1. Best of luck Gordo

Try re-entering the product key from the licence sticker on the case - Product Key Number - Change

The Windows Product ID and the partial Windows Product key in the MGA report indicate a stolen Lenovo key on an HP computer.

Once again another bad Windows Ultimate install.

Don`t you have a valid COA on your computer so you can install the correct version of windows and activate it with the key on the COA ?

We are more then willing to help you get it right :)

Hi, thank you for your responses, I will try calling Microsoft tomorrow and see what happens.
Also I haven't changed the windows version and I have tried re entering the key and that didn't work.
It worked fine for months and updates were being done as they should with no problem.
Will see what Microsoft say and let you know the outcome.
    thanks

    Hi Buddy,
MS will do NOTHING but tell you to install the original operating system.
In your case Home premium, that what the sticker on the side of you tower will show.
Use your original back-up discs that came with the comp.

If you have a readable key on your COA, we will gladly post a link to download a Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 iso file.

There is no benefit in installing Windows 7 Ultimate unless you need the few added features, if you`re not legal we are not obliged to help you at all.

Your COA will tell you what version came with your PC along with your activation code, we`ll await your response.

Torch is correct in saying MS will do nothing for you, they will ask you what version is on your COA, just as we have, and tell you to install it.
