Where Can I Find Knowledge Base Article 2641222 ?

    Hi everyone,

    I run Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I'm working on resolving CHKDSK problems such as (there are others):

"The object id index entry in file 0x19 points to file 0x3d4 but the file has no object id in it. Deleting an index entry from index $O of file 25." and "CHKDSK is scanning unindexed files for reconnect to their original directory. Recovering orphaned file Chkdsk20141115054950.log (58521) into directory file 17."

I found a hotfix download on hotfix@microsoft.com by referral from the Microsoft webpage https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641222, "An update is available that enables the Chkdsk.exe utility to repair a corruption error on the system volume in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2".

This email says, "WARNING This hotfix has not undergone full testing. Therefore, it is intended only for systems or computers that are experiencing the exact problem that is described in the one or more Microsoft Knowledge Base articles that are listed in "KB Article Numbers" field in the table at the end of this e-mail message." Finally, at page bottom appears, "KB Article Number(s): 2641222".

My problem here is that I've not been able to locate KB 2641222. Can anyone help me here?

On a final note, has anyone had experience on W7 with applying this hotfix?

    Kind regards,
    RetiredEngineer

The link you have noted, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2641222, yields KB2641222.

I'm not sure what else you are looking for.

    Hi pbcopter,

I'm looking for the contents of KB2641222. The KB webpage you noted does indeed contain two references to KB2641222. However, these are plain text, not live links.

Right now, I am still searching Microsoft's many knowledge bases (MSN included) without any hits on live links -- just links to the text string KB2641222 (or KB 2641222, or 2641222).

Any help in locating the contents of KB2641222 would be much appreciated, as I have already downloaded the Chkdsk.exe hotfix, but am afraid to run it until the subject KB tells me whether or not it will safely solve my file system problems.

    Kind regards,

As far as I know, the contents are what is in the link shown. It is the Knowledge Base KB2641222.

It contains all the information pertaining to the Hotfix offered at the top.

    The problem is described as:

"This article introduces a hotfix that updates the Chkdsk.exe utility in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2. Currently, the Chkdsk.exe utility cannot repair certain corruption errors on the system volume. These errors occur when the boot file is allocated to the first cluster instead of the first two clusters on the system volume. After you install this hotfix, the Chkdsk.exe utility can repair this kind of corruption error."

I'm not sure what additional information you are expecting.
