    Hi,

    Thanks again.

I'll try to get past #1, MS support using Brink's reset type of technique could have gone...

But the way you explained is far superior, since I want a clean W7 install with updates, not with patches, tweaks.

I know people running W7 with 200 failed updates, calling me nuts, saying what the hell why are you wasting time on the forums, our computers run fine......that said I want to learn and have a clean W7 that would at last a few months.

In the last 8 weeks or so, I have decreased my patients, research,(using my gf's pc), my life is confined to my office filled with media etc.......looks like a pc tech shop.

Haven't had a drink or dated in this time.....

Now know my W7 Product key, don't even have to look......

    Well that's my life......

Anyways thanks again, appreciate all your expert, professional assistance and in my view you are far better in all ways to these so call MS engineers/high end support techs.

Shall keep you posted how it goes.

    Thanks and Best regards.

Have a great Sunday afternoon. :)

From what I can understand of this process

You'd need to disconnect from the internet
    1) start over with your win-7 sp1 install
    2) manually install KB3020369
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=46827
    3) manually install KB3125574

Both of these updates have to be downloaded using ie11 in advance to a somewhat large flash drive so you can install them in order without an internet connection

If windows restarts after installing with a black screen for a while use Ctrl+Alt+Delete key board keys which will hopefully exit the black screen.
    Hi,
You should give this one a spin you already have the 2 updates needed :)
I still believe you should do this process instead though :)

1 last question before I start.

Do you still feel creating an initial image after activation and before updating is a good idea?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
I have only dropped one update to manually install
Before you start download KB3083710 and KB3102810 in advance, and store them on a flash drive
Start and complete the install without an internet connection
    Immediately after install is complete
    Manually install KB3083710 and restart.
    Manually install KB3102810 and restart.
Change your windows update settings I used Check for updates but let me decide when to download and install
Unchecked Give me recommended updates the same....

Restore the Internet connection and Activate windows
Then launch Windows Update search it shouldn't take very long 5-10 minutes for me
    Only install Important updates first
    This one.

No need for imanually nstalling the old update?

Care to make the new one similar to this?

    Thanks again.
