    Hi,
Hope you made a system image first

Should eventually came up with these updates
Simplifying updates for Windows 7 and 8.1

I might have tried installing Net 4.5.2 and the latest update client before giving up on it
With the update setting set at Never check for updates first

    Hi,

    1. Plan 1 with the KB3125574 update, didn't work at the start for check for updates as it froze.

    2. The 2nd plan with 2 manual updates before activation, works till it installs 133 of 163 important updates, always the same 29 failed, but on reboot the 29 wont install and check for updates freezes, have to install those 2/3 manually to get them as tried once earlier?

    3. What do you think about unchecking these 29 before the 1st install?

    4. What are your views about not installing the 2 updates before activation, are they causing the issue?

    5. What, if I go back to stock W7 only clean install and than .........tried earlier, there check for updates freezes after installing SP1?

    6. How do I create a image of clean installed W7/W7SP1, with IE 8/9 .......do I need to install Macrium Reflect using IE 8/9......is that ok......or could I download a full version, install on a flash and install?

    Hoping to hear from you,

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

Is Brink's 3 updates method the only solution?

Have almost tried everything possible, but none works smoothly.... Only solution is either unchecking the 29 before 1st install, or use the 2/3 updates after 1st install.

Is it with me, or others face such issues after a clean W7 install?

Hoping to hear your expert thoughts.

    Best regards.

    Edit:

Am thinking about calling MS support but than on rethought I know what they would do, waste few hrs and ultimately use Brink's type of reset....

    Hello again,

Just a thought, can't most or all important updates be slip streamed into W7 SP1...that would be of immense help?

I know may sound silly, to most, just getting a bit desperate, tired and stressed....

    Thanks again.

    Edit:

Is it possible to hire the services of a PC tech to slip stream these 166 important updates?

Am ready to pay, to get me out of the past 8 weeks of misery...

    Hi,

I happened to install all updates except 1, in bits and pieces.....

    1. Some W7 security updates installed 1 by 1 and had to shut down in order for them to get installed....strange?

    2. .NET 3.x.x and some W7 security installed got installed automatically in batches, didn't ask to shut down the lap.....like normally.

    3. Installed KB 3020369 at the end.

    4. A new W7 security update appeared that wont get installed and displays an error......am attaching for your expert views.........is it dependent on some recommended ones, since haven't installed any recommended one??

    Thanks again.

    Best regards!

PS: Btw do I really need those 2 manual updates at the start, before activation??

    Hi,

Got the update manually downloaded and installed and error got fixed, now on recheck have none important only 70 odd recommended ones.

Check for updates is brisk, doesn't take more than 10 mins max.

Made a list of failed updates, which to install in batches, alone, errors etc. for a clean reinstall.

    Have 2 questions:

    1. Do I require the 2 manual after initial install before activation?

    2. Do I need to install the Brink's reset, 3 updates?

    Thanks again.

    Kind regards!

Hi yea I went out of town for a little while
That last failed update was from January 2012 :)
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2585542

Yes traditionally you would activate windows before installing any updates
Also make darn sure the date and clock is exactly correct before installing or even checking for updates.

    Hi,

No worries smart man, missed your expert presence.

    1. Yea I read your link, don't really understand why it showed up after out friend KB3020386...manually installed it and the error disappeared.

    2. You must have read all my earlier posts, don't probably require the reset 3 updates as check for updates is fast as the 1st one.

    3. I agree, but your method like mine is untraditional, unconventional but it works...

    4. I made a note at each step..so now am doing a clean install trying to get a complete clean update.

    5. I gotta a WEI of 5.9, due to low memory and CPU....highest was 6.9 of hard drive...so my lap isn't that bad.

    6. In recommended, after important, should install .NET 4.5.2 and its 12 important updates and the 2 kernel frameworks ones... Correct?

Thanks again for replying, with your depth of knowledge which I appreciate again.

    Best regards.
