unable to get Windows 7 to activate with key. error 0xC004F074

I had activated the Windows 7 x64 Sp1 yesterday, when I came back this morning, all the devices ( I worked on two yesterday ) reverted back to the message "This copy of Windows is not genuine." Can anyone provide assistance?

    Here is the MGADiag report...

Hi & welcome to the Forum.

You have Windows License Type: KMS Client. This is for multi user companies that purchase a license key for multi computer use. It is not for ordinary home users.

Where did you get this copy of Windows from?.

I have been working on a handful of devices for a customer that were all previously set up by their last IT vendor. She said they had been using it for almost a year until the device called for the Windows License again. I have Windows 7 Licenses ready to go, but I'd rather not use ones that are unassigned unless I have to.

That seems explain it. With those multi user licenses such as the KMS Client one, MS check every now & then to see if the license is current & valid & as far as I know companies that use them pay a yearly license fee, so if it not renewed or lapses then it becomes invalid.

So it seems that you will have to use one of your reserve Windows licences.

    used another license

I was able to get windows 7 activated - now the only problem is I can't download updates from the Windows Update tool and only via "checking for updates online". I will research it and open a new thread if needed...

    Thanks Everyone.

Might be that a group policy restriction is in place on the server.

copy and paste the last day entries from the windows update log it should be throwing an error there, with a code i can check on.

    thought
If you used 1 of >>your<< licence keys, but the comp is still pointing towards the KMS server they will fail.

run this command please, post details

    slmgr /dlv
