    Morning TZ,

Just wanted to leave a final update for you (since I've marked this topic as solved).

I ran that 'reset' program this morning and everything seems to have been fixed. The Windows Updates list has been cleared, and when I checked for available updates, there was one for Windows Defender, which downloaded/installed successfully. CPU & physical memory usage continue to be normal.

    Cheers! :)

With you using Eset smart security

    Hi TZ,

Apparently, from what I can see...you're correct. Both Windows Defender and ESS are running at the same time...just as Defender did with my previous Outpost Security Suite program. I don't recall having any issues/conflicts with the two running at the same time. If you think it's advisable to turn-off Defender...let me know how to do that. (I don't seem to be able to find a way to accomplish it).

    Cheers!

    Hi,
Click the start button and click on Control panel,
On the top right next to the question mark click on the down arrow and select either small or large icons,

Click on the windows defender listing.
There you can turn it off by going to Tools and Options

    Hi,
    Yep you don't need it
It's probably the slowest scanner ever developed only 2nd to MSE's slow scanning
    Cheers.
