    Windows 7 oem activation failed


    Hi guys, i have recently just installed a new ssd alongside old hdd( old boot drive). Everything was installed smoothly. However when i tried to activate my windows 7 ultimate oem on new ssd . There is some error. Would you guys please help? I have deactivated the key on old boot drive. Besides, i have tried to activate it through phone but doesnt see any of the option. I have tried enable it from cmd(slui.exe 4 method) .Thanks.

    Hi Kynaut,
    Thats because your using an OEM key on a custom comp.
    The install is therefore counterfiet.
    note there are other indications that support my answer.

    Thanks for the reply, Roy.

    Hmm, why is that? And i have check some of the ppl can transfer their oem key.
    I did not change my mobo or so. I just installed a new ssd on my custom comp. It is still the same custom comp.

    Base OEM keys, like the one your using, CANNOT be transferred to another computer, and are not for custom builds.
    MS finally caught up with you, time to buy a legit OS.

    Maybe this will help you understand things a little better what is legal and what is not.
    The only Windows 7 you can move from computer to another computer is (Retail) but it still can only be on one computer at a time.
