Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine

That is what it says in the lower-right corner of my desktop monitor screen. The PC is a couple years old. I don't think I have installed anything new lately besides Windows Updates and Flash Player updates. I tried uninstalling Avast and reinstalling after seeing that message. I'm not very knowledgeable about computers. I tried the online validation thing it gave me an option to try. It ran and then said it could not validate my copy of Windows.

    Code:

When I try Run>cmd>slmgr -rearm, it says access denied because I need elevated privileges. I'm the only one who uses this computer. I am the administrator.

Re-enter your original W7 Ult key

Are you saying my MS Word 2003 thing is fake or something? That would suck. I bought it at Amazon.com a couple years ago because I didn't like the newer MS office (or whatever) products or WordPerfect. All my old documents looked messed up using those.

For now I tried switching User Account Control settings from Default to Never Notify, restarted the PC, and then entered that "slmgr -rearm" command again. This time it said the command was accepted or completed (or something like that) and prompted me to restart the computer. The message "This copy of Windows is not Genuine" was gone after restarting the computer.

I tried Windows Update then, and that worked. I opened a Word document too, thinking that would just make that "Windows not genuine" message appear again after reading what you wrote. But that didn't happen yet.

I'm confused. I bought a fake MS Word 2003 product? You can tell from looking at that report?

Thank you again for the help. I really appreciate it.

Yes it's easy to tell that your version of Office is Volume License Key or VLK as pointed out by torchwood. If you scroll down through the report you will see:

Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2

Office Volume License Keys are for businesses who use multiple computers & need a large number of Office installations. They are charged a license fee based on the number required & this is usually paid on a yearly basis. If it lapses or the user leaves the company & takes the computer, then after a period of time it will lapse as it is no longer in the companies license update period.

So as torchwood has said you will have to uninstall Office & buy another version.

Using the "slmgr-rearm" command is only a temporary measure & the non genuine message will appear again.

It has nothing to do with you being administrator, an elevated command prompt means you right click on the command prompt and select "Run as administrator"

You are elevating from the user level, to system level,
