Hi, i have windows 7 64 bit sp1, and when i check for updates it checks for updates with no results. I have let it run overnight and still nothing. It says checking for updates with the green line going back and forth, but never gets any results. Can someone help me with this it is very frustrating.

I got a used Thinkpad T420 laptop which had Windows 7 Professional installed. Since I can't change the GUI language on Professional I reinstalled the laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (en_windows_7_ultimate_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_677332.iso directly from MS).

So after running Win 10 for a couple of months, I decided to downgrade today to Win 7 because my PC stopped working since today morning probably due to corrupt Win 10 sys files (I couldn't even get it to repair or reset)
Anyhow, I formatted my SSD and clean installed Windows 7 x64 today...
When I try to check for updates, it just hangs for at least many hours with little to no apparent CPU, Disk, or network activity. The update check cannot be canceled (other than by rebooting). Clicking "Cancel does nothing". I can close the window but checking on Windows Update just bring ups...
