W7 product key fails after upgrade roll back
W7 64 bit volume licensed
Happily working and activated for several years.
I did all upgrade checks and upgraded to W10 - this failed (USB issues) so rolled back to W7 ... quick & painless and all working fine.
However the original product key has been replaced with what I assume is a temporary one ....
I have a print out of all my product keys for machine .... so went to:
computer > system > change product key and it fails on the original known good key with Error code 0xC004E003 - license evaluation failed
I went to the KB 931276 article followed various steps but no joy ..... tried activation line it the refers you to but that wants activation ID not product key.
I have the original volume license install disc ... (pre licensed all versions of W7) I can rerun that if there is a way to get a new product key without having to do a clean install.
