    Windows 7 Ultimate Activation Issue

Hi. Recently, I was helped here when I got a message on my monitor screen "Windows 7: Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine". I tried the rearm thing after looking at some other thread about the same thing. Someone posted in my thread that the rearm thing was only temporary, and that my report thing said the license for my copy of MS Word was being blocked because it was a volume license key. I uninstalled Word and went back to using WordPerfect that was still installed, and I went to this webpage Genuine Microsoft Software and did that. It said "Welcome to Windows! Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the blah, blah, blah."

I only just noticed some little message where icons are at the bottom of my monitor screen that said something about activate. It disappeared before I could click on it. It did the next time I saw it too. Then today, I saw the little message again and clicked on it, and then clicked on some "Activate Windows" thing. It said my product key is blocked.

Is this something that could have messed up when the other thing happened? Would it not have told me my Windows license was not good then? I bought this from an online store in May, 2014. It has two hologram discs, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit, and a label with the product key that says it is not to be sold separately.

Here is the report thing from today. Does that tell anyone anything? The other thread with the previous report is here. Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine

I'm not really sure what you mean. I'm sorry. I just uninstalled MS Word. I didn't have any other MS Office stuff installed. Then I did the Genuine Windows verification online, and then re-typed the same Windows 7 Ultimate product key that is on the package label, the same Windows 7 Ultimate key I was already using, for the Activate Windows thing, which told me it that key is being blocked by Microsoft.

I chatted with someone from Microsoft Windows Help. She said my Windows 7 Ultimate product key is pirated. I feel so angry.

That was the first time I built a computer, looking at videos and reading topics and articles at Tom's Hardware for how to do it. Two years ago. I don't remember what I ended up throwing away or what I just can't find now. I found most of my receipts for the hardware and software, but I can't find the receipt for Windows 7 Ultimate, just the package. The Microsoft lady said only the place I bought it from can unblock the product key for my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. But it doesn't look like I can even call them. I can't remember which place I bought it from. I have my bank statement from that month. Maybe my bank could tell me what the store is. It's not like the entries from Walmart and Amazon where the names of those businesses are printed in entries of purchases from them.

I decided to just purchase another copy of Windows 7 Ultimate from eBay because I want to keep using Windows 7 instead of Windows 10. But how do I even know if I'm just buying something else that isn't legitimate? The seller has been selling since 2000, and has 100% customer satisfaction, and the product page says it's the real thing for installation on one computer, not previously used.

That Microsoft lady said I wouldn't have to reinstall Windows. I could just use the same installation I have already with the product key from the new Windows 7 Ultimate purchase. I hope so. If my new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate does not get here before this 30 day period ends, can I use that slmgr -rearm command thing to extend that time period? If not, will my PC just ask me for the product key or something when I turn it on if I don't get my new product key before this time period expires?

I don't get it. I understand what you guys said about that MS Word I bought being a volume license key thing that I should not have been sold, and how that made it possible for me to use that for two years before this happened. But I don't understand how whatever has happened with my product key for my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. How was it possible for me to even use the product key from this copy of Windows 7 Ultimate in the first place if it is only for one computer? How does anyone else even get my key? And how can they use it and I get blocked if I was the one already using it? I guess it doesn't matter. I don't even know what I'm talking about.

This is the report using the link provided anyway.

Thank you guys for helping me. Sorry to be difficult. I guess it must be unpleasant to help someone who is using pirated product keys, but I didn't know I was. The packages and the discs look real. And the places I bought stuff seemed like normal online retailers.

    Hi Efdy.
Sorry about the bad news you have recieved, unfortunately W7 Ultimate is the most pirated OS around.
AND you are certainly not alone, the pirates are very good at what there doing.
MS is fighting back in the courts to get certain IP Address's blocked, mainly for VLK's

I would not expect your purchase to be less than $150, genuine ones over here are about £120,
ONLY 2 versions are available to you, OEM System Builder or Retail,

As for your new purchase as soon as you recieve it,
(you still have a 70 day grace period (2x re-arm + 10 days on current)
change the product key via Control panel >> system >> change product key
IT should then give you confirmation one way or another

Then run KB971033, dont worry if you get allready installed it will update anyway
    REBOOT

then rerun the Mgadiag tool and post the output.

    Roy
Its possible that someone your side of the pond could advise you of a reputable purchase site.

    Hi, @Edfy:

    I would follow @Torchwood's advice.
But, as far as having purchased from eBay, that's likely not going to be a legit key, either, I'm afraid, especially if they are selling "Ultimate". eBay is not a reputable source for licensed software, especially Windows.
If I were you, I would return it for a full refund as soon as possible.

I'm not sure there are (m)any legit sources for Win7 around these days, but perhaps someone will know of one - perhaps Newegg?

I hope you get it sorted,
    MM

I bought what was described as a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and 64 bit, the same thing I already had installed, and an OEM copy of MS Office 2003 Professional. I changed the operating system product key, activated that, then installed Office 2003 Pro and activated that. Both activations said they were successful. Does this look right now please?

I'm sorry. I'm so confused. I didn't know how to run KB971033--I didn't even know what it was. When all this started with the onscreen notification about Windows not being genuine, I think there was some thing to click on and that offered me the option of validating Windows online, which I clicked on. Which took me to that page with a "Validate Now" button.

I still don't know what "run KB971033" means. I guess I should have asked, but looking for instructions how to run KB971033, it seemed it was to validate my copy of Windows. I could not find instructions anywhere--just download KB971033 or uninstall it. I downloaded it and tried to install, and it said already installed. I thought I did that and then restarted the PC, and then ran that MGSDiag thing and posted it here, per previous instructions by Torchwood. I don't really remember for sure now. I know that sounds dumb, but for some reason I started feeling very nauseated and I can't think clearly at all, like this is making me sick or something.

But a little while ago today I went back to that page mentioned in one of my previous posts and clicked the "Validate Now" button. I downloaded and saved legitcheck.hta (or whatever the extension is), ran it, got that webpage again that says "Welcome to Windows! Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the blah, blah, blah," restarted my PC, and then ran the MGADiag thing again just now.

This below is copied from that. If I still did not make the right thing happen, will you tell me what "run KB971033" means? Like how to do that?

I hope this copy of Windows is okay. I ordered it from eBay for US $230. Second try actually. The first try, I got cheated, paid for nothing.

Does it look like my new copy of Office 2003 Professional is legal? A Microsoft Help guy said I could install an unused OEM copy, but this would be the only machine I could ever install it on. I wouldn't have even bought it, but I can't figure out how to copy and paste a table from a webpage to a document using WordPerfect.

I am sorry for being difficult. It was not intentional. Someone else at some other place told me I need to be more concise. I guess I have a mental problem or something. Thank you for your patience and the help with this issue.
