windows not genuine

I have had this copy of w7hp for 2 years now. I bought from a vendor. Now I get an message telling me it is not valid. If I click all the links to try and resolve it I get to a point where I must update to w10. I'm calling this BS. Why did it install and validate fine had they said something at the time of the install I could have done something about it now I can’t even remember where I got it.

Hi Datman,
i suspect even if you install W10 you'll get the same non-genuine.

I sent the vendor an email to see if he can help. What I don't understand is how up until now I have been good. If it was not genuine why did it say that it was and only now because I guess of some update it no longer is. As for as I'm concerned if the vendor did sell me a counterfeit copy and he mailed it USPS it is now mail fraud I want to see MS go after him!!! But No MS sell the bulk copies and they are resold and only much later does an issue come up. Everybody makes money and only the end-user pays the price. I call it what it BS.

I would try Operator activation >>ask the operator if the Key has ever previously been activated<<, as the chances are high that this is a license that's already been sold. If that's the case, you'll have to pursue the vendor for a refund if they claimed it was brand new.
telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you.

Awhile back, I had to uninstall a few Windows Updates to get my Windows back to genuine-ness. I'm not sure which WU did the hurt.

I'm trying the restore I only had 3 restore points not sure what happens to the earlier ones. If that doesn't work I can restore off an image backup and be careful on future WU.

Nope that didn't work.

I'm going to try using the phone.

In another thought. I only use this computer for recording and editing audio. It is almost never connected to the internet and I hate windows updates anyhow. If my software runs who cares so what if I have a black back ground.

When I follow through with the online validation I get to this screen and I guess I'm suppose to paste all the results in that tiny box labeled Do you want to add anything else and when I do every letter gets a script error you see.

What a crappy put together resolution page. I guess the people who worked on the Obama care roll out now work for Microsoft.
