Errors trying to install Updates and Win 10 Upgrade in Win 7

Hi there

Bought a new 2TB HDD last week. Installed it in the desktop and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 from original disk. Proceeded to reinstall my various software and do Windows Updates as usual. Everything was fine until I did a reboot where Windows asked if I wanted to upgrade to Win 10. Without thinking I just said yes. Next time I checked for updates and went to install and reboot, they all failed. I'm guessing it was because the updater was still trying to do Win 7 updates at the same time as upgrading to Win 10.

Now all I get is Error Code 8007002C-4000D and "Windows 10 couldn't be installed" after the process reaches about 93%. I've also had error code 634 when trying to install the remaining 6 Important updates for Win 7, all of which are .NET Framework files. One is for v4.5.2 and the other 5 are for v4.6.

Since Friday, I've tried switching off the Updater and BITS via cmd, deleting cache and files in the Windows/SoftwareDownload folder, switching Updater and BITS back on then rebooting and attempting Updates again. No luck with that.

Also tried running the Windows Update Troubleshooter, checked that my drives aren't Read Only (they're not), made sure both the System and my Admin account have full control/permissions (they do) and various other things that escape me now. Repairs/Refresh from the original Win 7 disk can't be done as I've added SP1 and all the other updates now so it just says the systems are incompatible. I don't want to try the full clean install that would lose my files.

My virus software (Avast Pro) and firewall (Windows) were switched off during attempted updates. Not sure what other info you might need. Memory is 16GB. System is less than 2 years old.

As instructed I installed/ran SURT.

I've run sfc /verifyonly and it completed with the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

CBS Log is here:

Advice will be gratefully received!
