    Windows Update error code 80080005

    hello,

I need some help with my computer.
When i check for updates, i have an error with the code 80080005.

    The history of it:
The problem started some time ago, some updates would fail to install and after that every time i tried to logoff the computer or reboot it, I'd get the (expected) message of configuration of Windows after an update, but it just stuck there for hours, so ever since i shut it down by pressing on the button.

I tried at the time the procedure of renaming/deleting [SoftwareDistribution] folder, but it did not work.

Now i replaced the [SoftwareDistribution] folder with the original one (before the renaming/deleting procedure) but still WU does not work.

I tried the Microsoft Fixit Tool, it gave me the illusion of solving a 0x8024402c error but it did not work.

    Now here i am:

    - The error code is 80080005.
    - The System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) took 17 hours to complete and shows a fail status.
    - The SFC Scan didn't show any errors.
    - The Logs Collection (in the attachment)
    Attachment 389848

    Thanks for helping.

    Thank you for the reply.

Here (attachment) Attachment 389852 is the CBS.zip, and for the accounts, I created 2 accounts, one with Admin privileges which i use all the time and the other is Standard one.
For the Admin account some time it prevent me for doing the simplest things, like copying or accessing some system folders, it was the case with CBS folder, i had to log on Safe boot to copy the files.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Wsept,
As your running home premium, you only have the option of 1 language pack you appear to have 2
    English and French.
Please remove the secondary language ,
then try updating choose the oldest dated one only, what happenes?

The SURT errors are also reporting dual language problems for a W10 install package.
Did you try and upgrade or stop it in some way

Also what version of Netframework is on your system, should be 4.6.1

    Hi,

I only have the French Display which came with the computer, i never tried to change it, i did a [Dism /online /Get-Intl] command (found on Microsoft website) to confirm that, and it shows me only fr-Fr (for french) as installed language.

About Win10, i have that icon, all the system got at one time, "begging " to upgrade, but i never tried to install it and i don't intend to.

The Net Framework was one of the Updates which failed when i was able to check and do updates, the actual version as i could get from REGEDIT is .NET Framework 4.5.2.

    Hi Wsept,

missed the line that said surt FAILED, i was looking at the last run details dated 2013??
download GWX Control Panel from Majorgeeks, (W10 stopper).

    Back to repairing
    From this link, Netframework tool
Download Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool from Official Microsoft Download Center.
If the repair option fails then uninstall it.

    DO NOT REBOOT YET

    Right can you navigate to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TrustedInstaller\Start
value should be MANUAL, if its not please reset it

    REBOOT NOW

Please can you also post your copy the screenshot.

Yes the SURT did failed and i can see that in the WU history, but when it completed i did not have any message saying to do that or that or retry it, nothing.

Thank you for the "GWX Control Panel", i will use it.

The Repair Tool for .Net Framework worked and made the changes needed, it suggested to do the installation/update of .Net Framework which i did not do yet.

In REGEDIT the TrustedInstaller appears to be on Automatic (Start have the value 2), so it did not need resetting.
Did a reboot, same error on WU.
Do i install the .Net Framework (v 4.6.1) manually now or wait to avoid any conflicts with WU?

In attachments Region and language screenshots.

    Hi Wsept,

YOU HAVE 3 language packs installed get rid of Arabic and English, thats why it errored again.

CHANGE the default value to MANUAL for trusted installer.

    Leave Netframework for the moment

    Now REBOOT

    try updating.

try SURT again if install fails.

    Hi,

I am really sorry if i misled you, i was meaning i have only one Display Language (from what i understand) and not the Keyboard Input Languages, plus the command line indicated one installed language.
    Windows Update error code 80080005-command_line_lang.jpg

I tried uninstalling the AR and EN languages by running the LPKSETUP since (like you saw in my screenshot) i don't have the install/uninstall language button, unlike on your previous attachment.

    LPKSETUP gave me this error
    Windows Update error code 80080005-error_uninstalling_lang_en.jpg

I am going try to find a solution and get back to you after uninstalling the languages.

    Thank you for your help.
