Windows Update Not Working after NEW SSD install (Win7)...

Installed new SSD on a Dell Vostro laptop. Installed Win7 Pro 64-bit on it...no issues during install. Connectivity is no problem, am able to get to all web sites. When I try to do Windows Update, though, it sits on "Checking for Updates" forever, never moves from that. I tried Microsoft's FixIt program and it comes back with an error...

Windows Update error 0x80070005 (2016-07-28-T-12_33_39P) -- Not Fixed.

I Googled the 0x80070005 error and tried every suggestion somebody had. Still no fix.

Any ideas what I can look for? Again, brand new drive. SFC comes back with no errors. Has connectivity.

    Hi JC,
    looks like your not registered,
The report is showing file mismatches and ActiveX is not registered.
    Please run the standalone KB971033.
It will clear the errors and you should be good to go.

PS - I swapped the hard drive out of the Vostro and into a HP EliteBook. Tried again, same issues. That would make me think it has something to do with my location, correct? But other laptops work so I'm lost. Thanks again!

Ok, I am trying. It seems to be stuck on "Searching for updates on this computer." Thank you very much!

I'm confused. Please help my 3 brain cells to understand.

    The bios states
    Model>HPEliteBook

Installed new SSD on a Dell Vostro laptop. Installed Win7 Pro 64-bit on it...no issues during install.
A Dell Vostro laptop and a HPEliteBook are two different computers.
