    Hi,
Yep 2 of those updates are on the link DavidE posted

If you go with this process there is a third update that contains everything up till April 2016 in it
    Unofficial sp2,
    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/...ows-7-and-8-1/

    KB3020369 & KB3172605 & KB3125574 from the catalog
    Microsoft Update Catalog

If you don't want to deal with the catalog I have KB3125574 also on my OneDrive.

    This is what Thrashzone mentioned:
KB3125574 contains all the security and non-security fixes released since the release of Windows 7 SP1 that are suitable for general distribution, up through April 2016.
It’s single, Multi language, 488MB update file (msu). On a recent installation, you must have first to install KB3020369.

Every attempt at updating after a recent win7 re-install ends up with 'Seraching for updates on this computer'.
Anyone know what I'm missing here please?

You need the 2 updates ThrashZone posted.

Here's how I do it when I set up new VM's:

Download the April 2015 servicing stack update https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3020369

Also download the July 2016 update rollup https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3172605

    Disconnect your internet connection.

Open Windows Update, select 'Change settings' and change it to "Never check for updates". Click 'OK' to exit out of Control Panel.

Open the start menu and type services.msc in the search bar.

Scroll down to the Windows Update service -> right click -> select Properties. Select startup type to 'manual' and stop the service.

    Reboot the PC.

Install the April 2015 servicing stack update (KB3020369).

    Reboot the PC again.

Install the July 2016 update rollup (KB3172605).

Reboot the PC again once installed.

Go back into Services and change Windows Update service back to 'Automatic (delayed start)' and then restart the service.

    Reconnect your internet.

Open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates but let me choose'. Click 'OK'.

Check for updates and it should hopefully pick them up within 5 - 10 minutes (depending on your connection).

I personally don't install the "Convenience Update" as I like to choose what I want to install.
