    Windows 7 SP1 fails at 7%

    Greetings To All,

I am trying to install Win 7 SP1, on a Dell laptop, but it keeps failing. I have tried sfc /scannow and the SUR tool, and a few other recommendations from the Microsoft support pages, to no avail. The error is: Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 800F0826.

Here is the link to the CBS zipped folder: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-i...ew?usp=sharing

    I really need help. Thanks

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
If you have another machine with sp1 and net 4.6.1 you can use this and get installation media with sp1 already on it

If not just post which exact version and bit and of course language and we can post a link for the media for you.

Thanks for your quick reply. I actually have the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit OEM DVD. Using a key finder, I got the key and I tried to do a fresh install. I could not get it activated using the key even though the key is genuine and is activated, and that has happened to me before. Used to be you could talk to a Microsoft tech and get help with these kinds of activation problems. Anyway, I really want to fix this. Thanks.

Hi is this the disk that came with the laptop? as all the dell computers I have owned that came with a disk for reinstalling the OS their was no need to enter the key code. but their should be a sticker on the bottom of the laptop that has the key code.

This is an older laptop and the decal is unreadable. It came with the original Windows 7 (No SP1), but I have the key (using a key finder). It takes me to the activation screen, but the key will not work.

    Thanks.

    Hi Richie
Dell laptops dont like other installation media.
They prefer thier own factory reset option F8, then select advanced recovery options.
Hit that key IMMEDIATELY on boot.

Using this method will NOT require you to activate the OS, it does it automatically.
i suspect the code you found was
    6RBBT-F8VPQ-QCPVQ-KHRB8-RMV82
all Dell W7 home premium comps.
