    Can't update from W7 x64 Ultimate to W7 SP1. Components missing

Hello!, since already few weeks ago, I'm getting the blue windows message each time I turn on the PC that I will no longer receive security updates for the windows version I have (and then I should update to W7 SP1).

The problem is that I can't update for some reason (windows update doesn't detect it: "no updates availables", and when I try to install the standalone file I'm getting the "One or more system components that the service pack requires are missing.." message).

The things I already tried without success:

    - running SFC /SCANNOW Command multiple times
    - try Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
    - reset Windows Update components
    - System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7

When I ran the SFC /scannnow, I still getting a message saying that sfc scannow finds corrupt files but can't fix them, may be that's the issue

    Attached the CBS log:

    Attachment 392080

What can I do to proceed?

Thanks in advance, and have a great day!

Hello ZeveN and welcome to 7 Forums :)

I would recommend that you try the in-place upgrade option at this point:

    Repair Install

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

    Cheers, Boris :)

Thanks Boris!! :) , I have the W7 ultimate disk I used to install it, but it has few years already. Can I use it to repair the update?, or should I download the lastest W7 version and make a bootable disk to do so?

Another thing, do I have any risk if I continue using my windows like this?, without updating?

    No problem ZeveN :)

And hmm I would maybe play it on the safe side and take a newer version just to be sure you won't have the exact same problem again.

Well yeah, if there are future security patches, you won't be able to install them and you might get infected and everything would start to go downhill.

    Cheers, Boris :)

Thanks Boris, I didn't have time yet to proceed with all the repair. I need 1st to backup everything I guess, I want to be sure about something: I read that for Windows 7 ultimate, "mainstream support for all editions (new features and bug fixes) ended as of January 2015, but extended Support (security updates) will continue until January 2020."

Is this true?, if so, with a good antivirus I shouldn't be worried then, since I'll keep receiving the security updates right?

    Hi Zeven,
Doubt very much if a repair/re-install with your media will work.
I suspect that it is corrupt judging by the errors in the CBS.
As that comp didnt come with Ultimate, you must have purchased it.
If the results of this tool

support my above statement, and its genuine, we can provide you with an W7 SP1 Ultimate download

    copy/paste the output
