Microsoft should be sued,forcing rollup updates on windows 7 users

Most should be aware that Microsoft starting from October 2016, is forcing windows 7 users to install updates all rolled up into one, just like they do on windows 10.

Many of us don’t want this or do we want the freedom taken away to chose what updates we install. When people bought windows 7, this is not what we signed up to and not part of the licensing agreement.

Microsoft have no right to do this and should honour the way windows 7 has always issued updates, until end of support in 2020.

Microsoft really annoyed many people with the push for windows 10 spyware, crap ware, spying on peoples windows 7 computers and the relentless push to force, windows 10 on people who didn’t want it.

As if Microsoft hasn’t alienate it’s customers enough.

So I thinks many windows 7 users should get together and sue Microsoft for forcing these windows 10 style updates, on to windows 7 users, if they don’t revoke the stupid policy.

Microsoft needs to be taught a lesson and sued for breach of contract on windows 7.

So what do you say? :)

I'm sure that a company the size of MS and the myriad of lawyers employed have taken all the necessary steps to protect themselves from being sued as you describe.

Having said that it is your choice to install the updates or not. For what it's worth I stopped updating Windows 7 long before the Windows 10 thing and my system is running just fine.

While I'm not a fan of the rollup idea either, I doubt we would have a legal leg to stand on.

You have to remember that when you purchase a windows licence you're not actually buying the software. You're buying a licence that permits you to use MS software, so you're effectively just renting the software from them.

I'm pretty sure MS will have themselves covered to be able to make changes like this without any repercussions.

Like it or not, the rollups are coming, and I can't see MS reversing the decision. They're ploughing forward with their vision of Windows!

The only good thing I see from this is that at least we still get a chance to hold off installing the updates. At least they're not being forced on us unlike the home editions of Windows 10.

I've stored all the separate update installers up until the end of this month for future installs. We'll have to see if any of the future updates causes any issues. Judging by some of the borked updates on Windows 10 lately, I'm a little cautious!
