Errors installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1

I've been bashing my head against this for a couple days and would appreciate some help. Didn't have SP1 installed for some reason and it's throwing an error up when I try to install it.

The Error code is 80070490:Windows update encountered an unknown error

I've tried the System Update Readiness Tool and have run SFC scan. The CBS zip to too large to attach to is on Dropbox.

    Dropbox - CBS.zip

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Byron,
    can you
Use the windows update Troubleshooter both modes please from this link
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

    View your installed update list
are the latest all showing as Failed?

Please run this tool, copy/paste the output,
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012
Your CBS report is huge and reports that SURT did not fully complete we may need to
perform either a repair install or get a W7 SP1 download, from where wil depend on the results.

I seem to have made some progress. The checkSUR log is down to one error.

    Hi Roy,

    I ran the Update Troubleshooter.

When checking "Windows Update" it failed to fix Windows Update error 0x80070490(2016-10-12-T-07_08_58P) and Problems installing recent update.

When checking "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" it failed to fix Windows Update error 0x80070490(2016-10-12-T-07_16_31P) and Problems installing recent update.

The only update that has failed and not been successful with a second installation attempt is Service Pack 1.

    Hi Byron,
Unfortunately what we have done hasn't cleared the major problem, the WAT error, this is confirmed by the file mismatch's and tampered files showing in the MGA.

On the upside we can get hold of a W7 SP1 download, although this will involve a clean install, so you will need to backup your personal data to an external device.

If your happy to go this way i can get a link for you.

I'm happy to give anything a go. Might take a couple days to sort a external backup with work and other stuff.

Personal data moved to an external hard drive and W7 SP1 download on a USB. Apart from changing the Bios anything else I need to do?
