Error Code 80073712
Hello all upon my downloading Updates for October I have came across the following error WindowsUpdate_80073712. This particular error I have been receiving now for about a year and a half in which I have persevered with. (October, 2016 Security and Quality Rollup for .Net Framework etc etc installed fine. Security Monthly Quality Rollup, did not.)
Certain Updates will Install and some will not. I have been doing a little searching of my own. Via: Youtube and other known sites. I did come across solutions but I did not want to execute any command until' I was shown the green light, for I believe every system is different to the next. Also is there a patch/update of some kind to resolve the slowness when Windows are Installing Updates? Today it took just over 6 hours only to be shown the error. Your help is greatly appreciated. Carl. |

Hi Swizz,
the more important error is the dt000. It tends to imply permissions problems, either in the way you have configued GPO's on your comp, or MS doesn't quite trust you!. please run this tool, copy paste the output http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012 As you have built your own comp you should be using a system builder or retail key, the report will show the key type. Hi Roy and thanks for responding. Yes it is a custom built computer. A friend of mine built it for me, going back 3 years now.

Hi Swizz,
Bad news im afraid, in my first post i mentioned the license types required for a custom build Yours unfortunately is neither.. It shows as being OEM, this type of licence is purely for factory built comps only. He's done a good job on you, i can see the activation hack in the report, got the right slic table, but in the wrong place, and the correct key for an Alienware build. The slowness in your case was probobly MS trying to figure out if yours was a genuine install, and giving you the beneifit of the doubt. The only way your going to get things better is to buy a genuine license, not cheap W7 Ult £100+, IF you can get hold of a genuine one, best bet via a specialised custom supplier like Novatech. Oh wow I really can not believe it..I'm sitting here shaking my head. Thank you for informing me, Roy. Unfortunately I can't get back in touch with him due to him moving away. I haven't seen him for some time now.
In the meantime until' I can get my hands on a genuine copy what do you recommend I should do? |

Hi Carl,
Not a lot you can really do, just make sure your AV and Firewall are upto date until you get a genune license. Yeah was being diplomatic in my earlier post, seeing as you've been around a while. Dt000 is a dead giveaway not seen a genuine system with that error code. roy |

Update Error Code 80073712 Hi, I've had this update error going on for a few months. Eventually I ended up hiding the update, but whenever new updates are available it re-includes itself. When that happens, it ends up making the new updates fail and I have to delete my catroot directory in order for the updates to work. ... |

Update Error Code 80073712 I have a Dell laptop running Win 7 Pro SP1 with MS updates current thru 5/31/2013. When I run Update I get an Error Code 80073712. Checking on this code, it seems to be related to a corrupt Registry (most likely in my case), so a Repair Install seems to be indicated. Everything else is working... |
