    New install Win7 x64 SP1 /w rollup update. won't search for updates

I have just completed a new install of Windows Home Premium 64-bit with Service pack 1 and the most current rollup update (KB3125574, with prerequisite updates as well) pre-installed. Whenever i try to search for updates with windows update it just keeps searching for updates.

The following hotfixes have also been applied (successfully, none failed):
    -KB971033
    -KB3102810
    -KB947821

Every time I restart windows and try to check for updates, Windows Update reports that it has not checked for updates

and if I try to search for updates it just sits on "Checking for updates..." (for days).

My CBS.zip is too big to post to this forum :/

    Thank you,
KB3172605, is one I did not install. The other two were wrapped into my install media. Will try that one right now.

    Hi,
The three I posted are the only ones needed to get things up and running :)
    Cheers.

That update installed and am now checking for updates again. Will update this if i run into any more issues, or if it works.

While I've got attention, any other updates that you can think of that would be suggested to merge into install media?

    Hi,
You might look into Brds7t7 post #108
More on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 servicing changes

If you want the Security Quality Rollup (which includes everything), then it's here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3185330 these will eventually be cumulative sometime in 2017.

If you want the Security-only update then that's from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3192391 this won't be cumulative.

    Hi,
Not sure you need any of these
    KB971033
    KB3102810 = definitely not needed
    KB947821
The prior quoted post of Brds7t7 has a newer activation technology.... built into it :)
Not sure there are any prerequisite to install it though ?

Wow. After a lot of wasted time this worked. I did a fresh install of Win 7 pro x64 in a Dell laptop. Could not get it to update even after following all the various "fixes" on the MS site and others.
