Windows update is stuck on Checking for Updates

I recently installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Previous operating system was Windows 10. When I run a Windows Update, it doesn't stop Checking for Updates. I left it for a 24 hour period yesterday, restarted, and then let it go over night again today.

When I was installing the Network Adapter driver, I received this message: Microsoft SNMP Service was not detected. You must install this service for the Advanced Server sub-agent to work properly. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is checked when I look at the Windows Features under Turn Windows features on or off in the Control Panel. The driver installation finished and I am able to make network connections. I am not sure if this is related to the Windows Update issue so I though I would mention it.

    Thanks.

    Hi and welcome.

    Follow these instructions exactly.
First, set Windows Updates to never check for Updates.
Next restart your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
    Then install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal. You can then reset your updates to automatically check for updates if desired

Looks like that worked. I'm in the process of installing 255 updates. Thank you for your help!

Thank you! I left one of my PC's checking updates for a full 2 weeks without restarting the PC or interrupting the process in any way and it still wouldn't finish.

Another post had mentioned to install KB3153199, however, this did nothing for me.

I would add that I didn't install the KB's in the order suggested, leading me to believe that the order doesn't matter.
And this also works for POSReady 7 if anyone has the joy of working with POS systems.
