    Manual Updates query!

    Hi ThrashZone,

I have a question, might sound simple or stupid to you, but need your expert opinion to clear it before I reinstall W7.

    1. The 3 manual updates, i.e 1. KB3020369, 2. 3125574-32bit and 3. KB3172605 are installed on a USB.

    2. Should they be installed, running from USB or copied to the download folder and run from there......or it doesn't matter either way?

    3. If from USB, the 3125574-32bit i.e the 2nd and 3rd prompt for a reboot, before rebooting, should the USB be plugged out or it's fine for it be in?

    4. Lastly, the new install won't have a unzip app at that moment, should 3125574-32bit be opened and standalone installer run?

Hope you understand, trying to cover all bases.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
No such thing as a stupid question :)
I'd just copy and paste the 3 updates anywhere the downloads folder is a good choice I usually do that then use safe to remove device :)

After just run the stand alone installers for each one in order :)

    Hi Alexey,
Gonna be doing the exact same thing when i install my SSD:)
Downoad the 3 updates to your desktop, remove usb AND any other Devices, and run them from there.
W7 has an inbuilt unzipper (right click on file > extract) you dont need 7Zip or same.

    Hi,

The folders from my onedrive were zipped using windows right click send to zip folder so they were not created using a third party product so windows will not have any issues with them :)

If you want the Security Quality Rollup (which includes everything), then it's here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3185330 these will eventually be cumulative sometime in 2017.

If you want the Security-only update then that's from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3192391 this won't be cumulative.

Hey Thrash, can I unzip it on the USB, and copy it as the other 2, and run as standalone vs. copying the zip?

The last one in the screenshot.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
    Sort of
Right click each zip folder on the flash drive
Once you right click the zip folder you'll see Extract all use that and point it to the downloads folder or anywhere on the c drive will work as long as you remember where you point it to extract the contents too :)
I like the downloads folder because it's out of the way.... and you don't want to delete the stand alone installer too soon windows may not be finished with it right away :)
