On a fresh install I just install those 2 updates Mike has shown in his tut, then I only install the 1st round of security updates, then I go through the recommended and important updates 1 at a time and see if they are even needed, it takes a while but it`s worth it, I have a perfect SFC on a HP SFF desktop I just did today. I did not install that unofficial SP2 update. Way too much garbage in there we don`t need.

And I only do 20 or 30 updates at a time, running SFC in between, if SFC comes up clean I`ll create a restore point before installing more updates.

    And so on.

I will try to make a new list of updates to avoid asap.
