    Manual update query 2!

    Hi @ThrashZone,

    1. Got W7 updated, using your method, but with out the big 316 MB update. BTW was a trail run never expected..

    2. Installed in batches, as you recommended, size 30, 10, 20, 22 etc. got all 157 installed. None sfc issues.

    3. I had 1 failed in the 1st 33, that was Nov 2016 Security Monthly Quality Rollup, but got installed fine alone on reboot.

    3. Got a message for 12 odd updates, despite downloading, Canceled, but they are installed....strange though.

    4. Lastly had an issue with KB3149090, wont download/install using update, had to manually download and run as standalone.

Bottom line only 1 failed, few cancelled, but were installed (maybe my lap just got refurbished, mouse is responsive, could have accidently cancelled download, but are there in the installed updates), and 1 failing to install using update.....So in all now I know, not to get ANY error.

    Thanks again.

    Hoping to hear from you!:)

    1 more of optional. :)

I'll try to do a near perfect, since now know where to be cautious, some time over the week end.

    None sfc errors.

I don't require the big so called SP2.....correct?

    Edit:

    Order of attachments:

    1. Updates that displayed Cancelled.

    2. Error for KB3149090.

    3. Left Optional shot #1.

    4. KB3149090.

    5. Left Optional shot #2.

Hi unofficial sp2 well it saves time but indeed seems to have issues = known issues seeing you sfc reports :)
But no you can do as you have been the old fashion way it just takes more time = trial and error
I always said the error installing some older updates should probably state "does not apply" not failed...

    The November rollup
You might just manually install the security only and call it a day :)
    kb3197867
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3197867

But kb3197868 will still show up so it will not make it disappear you just right click it and select hide.

    Hi,

    Thanks.

Should this November, 2016 Security Only Quality Update for Windows 7 (KB3197867), be installed initially or it doesn't matter?

    Hi,
That is a Preview update so leave it sit in the Optional section,

The other one kb3197868 was in the Important section and the kb3197867 is it's security only brother.

    Hi,

    Thanks again.

A question....the updates showing cancelled, in update history are seen installed in Installed Updates....how did they get downloaded?

    Have a great weekend!

After this install, W7 doesn't check for updates daily, have to do it run check for updates manually?

    Thanks.

    EDIT:

Could manual, standalone install of KB3149090, be the reason?

How can I disable the check that I performed manually, and reboot to confirm?

Change date of lap and reboot?

    Thanks.

    EDIT:

    OR Wait till tomorrow..........

Disabled check for updates to Never > Rebooted > Changed to check but not download > reboot ......it did started to check automatically.
