    Hi Phil,
System is currently not registered, Activated Yes.
run this KB (x64 version), shout if your running 32bit.
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=152411

It should remove the errors, File Mismatch and register your ActiveX.

    rerun the Mga

Then you should be good to go.

Well... the update you linked ran fine, but didn't solve the update hang issue, as far as I can see. I restarted after update you linked to, and then ran Windows Update, and it's been "Checking..." since then (about 15 minutes).

    Here is the new MGADiag:

I have been researching this and can't figure out how to register... I recently had to reinstall after I found a Trojan on my computer... Everything is the same as before, Win 7 Pro disc, motherboard, drives, memory, etc.

    Hi Phil,
    might been a bit premature.
missed the error right at the top.

I think we might have to re-create the licence store,
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sitcker on eht machine's case
Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report

    Hi Phil,

As the error code also infers iffy hardware, please run the following
    chkdsk /r
    and
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

You also mentioned malware, was it a complete CLEAN install or repair install, if the latter its possible its still there.

Ran both check disk and memory test, but neither one found anything...

First I should say that I have three drives, a SSD for C:, and two spinners, one for programs and one for data. I booted from a CD to remove the virus, then removed the partitions of each drive, in turn, then repartitioned each. Then a clean install of Win 7 Pro from my original OEM CD.

I have a Gigabyte Z97M-D3H motherboard, so after installing Win7, I had to install drivers for the motherboard. I wonder if one of those installs did something...

One that I suspect is: Microsoft HOTFIX KB2685811(64)

That had to be installed ahead of: Intel Management Engine Software (1.5M) v. 10.0.0.1204

I am thinking about repeating my install and only installing the LAN driver and then running WU... I'm getting Cheesed off! (not at you, Roy... this machine!)
