I wouldn't say anything in the next 3-5 months. Why do you ask?

I suggest about 18 months after RTM for the first Service pack - unless there are any showstopper issues that arise or any massive uptake of some new technology

Windows 7 appears to be a lot less in need of a service pack that either Vista or XP were at this stage in development and they had to wait quite a while :)

well ive just had some issues where i pretty much resolved, just for the fact i cant use the AV i want, and had to turn somethings off because it was interrupting some games. So my next guess its up to the game developers to work around those things that are making it interrupt??

To be honest, it's my opinion that it's always the responsibility of the software developers to convert their products to work with a new OS. Or they can decide not to support the new OS.

It should not be down to Microsoft (or Apple or anyone else), to potentially weaken the OS for the sake of backwards compatibility. The ability to work with older software and hardware is desirable, but only when it is not at the expence of the new product

bugs??? What bugs? I'm not having any issues like I did with the pre-SP1 version of Vista. That was a POS. Not until SP1 did I have any nice things to say about Vista, and even then, my enthusiasm was quite muted. So far, on Win7 everything is going swimmingly. What's your issue with 7?

it was with gaming see those 100+ post i have got them in about 2 weeks getting issues fixed, by all means i am not complaining about 7 best os yet, never even upgraded to vista, went straight from xp to 7 and im loving the sleek look and what not, its just some of my games have been acting funny, and i got most of them to work.

Also some people had to disable MMCSS to get some of their things to work because of an older problem that vista had, thats why i was just wondering if they were going to update some of these updates. but then again then yea it probably is up to the people to work around the windows 7 build.

Also to add people always recommending to turn off some of windows services because supposed they are cpu heavy maybe like utilizing it better.

Well, there is always patch Tuesday - I wonder whether they will keep that routine for 7.

The first Windows 7 Patch Tuesday was the one last month - though to be honest there wasn't much in it for Windows 7, also the latest exploit information seems to be stating that Windows 7 is immune from most of it so far
