I've been having a major problem with windows update for the last week or so, it's getting stuck "Checking for updates". Not only that, but I'm seeing this problem on 3 different installations with different underlying hardware. The 3 systems are:

When I go to check for update windows updater gets stuck on an endless loop while checking. I have let it check for "hours" but it doesn't stop nor does it find any updates, I always have to use task manager to get it to stop. Any ideas on what could be the problem?
