Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (and Linux Mint)
Windows Updates offered today, 10.12.2016. Most W10 stuff and teleme.

Hello, Peeps.

Windows 7 X64.

The following Recommended Updates were offered today. I had previous information on all except the last four, which I Googled today.
Most are, it seems, repetitions of the Windows 10 Update stuff that many of us avoided all those months ago. So the hassle would seem to be ongoing. However, the last one, KB3184143 is an uninstaller for several of those annoying very same W10 Updates. Odd. Giveth with one hand, taketh away with the other. A couple of the last four seem OK, and (KB3181988) I have been having problems with sfc/ scannow reporting 'corrupt files but unable to repair' for a while now. Maybe this will sort them out.
The information below is taken from several sources, and the credit belongs mostly to others. I'm just passing it on.

KB2545698 - (Internet Explorer 9)
KB2592687 - Remote Desktop Protocol
KB2923545 - Remote Desktop Protocol.
KB2952664 – Prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10 (sends a bunch of telemetry data to MS, reported to corrupt system files)
KB2970228 - Russian ruble symbol.
KB3021917 – Prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10
KB3068708 – Installs telemetry service, prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10
KB3080149 – Adds yet more telemetry
KB3172605 - (Optional Update KB3172605)
KB3179573 - Telemetry (KB3179573 - install or not?)
KB3181988 - Fixed bug in SFC scans caused by the convenience rollup (“Win 7 SP2”) KB 3125574
KB3184143 - Uninstalls several related and no longer needed updates on machines running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.

Sorry about "teleme" in Title. Accidentally exceeded character allowance. Is "telemetry".

OEM Windows 7 Ult (x64) SP1

GWX has ended.
MS even issued a patch to remove it from Win7-SP1 systems, KB3184143
If you want to subscribe to perpetual paranoia about getting Win10 on your Win7 box, that's up to you.:)

Also, the current version of KB2952664 has nothing to do with either GWX or telemetry:

There is no GWX or upgrade functionality contained in this update.
As for the rest, I'll leave that to other members more interested in this topic than I am.
For the record, though, Apple and Google also use telemetry.
Telemetry cuts both ways -- without aggregate data about how an OS performs in the real world, MS cannot be expected to code needed security and stability patches for Windows or its other major software (such as Office) that will perform properly.
I find it ironic that some of the folks who most loudly decry "telemetry" are the same folks who are first to complain about a "bad" patch on Patch Tuesday. (That's not directed at you personally or anyone else in particular.)

There is a definitive solution. If one destroys all of one's electronic and analog communication and computing devices, physically cuts all cables, fiber-optic lines and other connections to the outside world (not just the internet), and cuts up all of one's credit/debit cards, one can be reasonably safe.

<sorry, it's just that this discussion has grown a bit tiresome over the years. nothing personal.>

Thanks for posting your list.:)
And I hope you get your SFC errors and other problems sorted out.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (and Linux Mint)

After unchecking and hiding the dodgy Updates, yesterday, leaving just four that I felt it safe to install, the lot just disappeared, leaving just one Important update, KB 3177467 which is a maintenance run for Windows Update, apparently.
Today, that situation remains, and no Optional updates at all are listed.
sfc /scannow still reports corrupt files and its inability to fix them. Maybe it'll come back.

1. VIGILANCE, n: The quality or character of being vigilant; watchfulness against danger or any action on the part of others; alertness or closeness of observation.
2. PARANOIA, n: any unjustified or excessive sense of fear; esp. an unreasonable fear of the actions or motives of others.
3. FACT, n: That which is known to be real or true; what has actually happened or is the case; truth attested by direct observation or authentic testimony; reality.
4. INVESTIGATE, v: To search or inquire into; to examine (a matter) systematically or in detail; to make an inquiry or examination into.
5. DISSEMINATION, n: The action of scattering or spreading abroad seed, or anything likened to it (information); the fact or condition of being thus diffused; dispersion, diffusion, promulgation.

1. What I was displaying.
2. What I am not, as Microsoft have unashamedly proven their capability of lying, and their ability to perform nefarious practices.
3. What happened, and what I observed.
4. What I did, subsequent to 3.
5. What I did with the results of 4.
10. An Operating System which nothing to do with will I have. As Yoda used to say.
