Windows Updates offered today, 10.12.2016. Most W10 stuff and teleme.
Hello, Peeps.
Windows 7 X64.
The following Recommended Updates were offered today. I had previous information on all except the last four, which I Googled today.
Most are, it seems, repetitions of the Windows 10 Update stuff that many of us avoided all those months ago. So the hassle would seem to be ongoing. However, the last one, KB3184143 is an uninstaller for several of those annoying very same W10 Updates. Odd. Giveth with one hand, taketh away with the other. A couple of the last four seem OK, and (KB3181988) I have been having problems with sfc/ scannow reporting 'corrupt files but unable to repair' for a while now. Maybe this will sort them out.
The information below is taken from several sources, and the credit belongs mostly to others. I'm just passing it on.
KB2545698 - (Internet Explorer 9)
KB2592687 - Remote Desktop Protocol
KB2923545 - Remote Desktop Protocol.
KB2952664 – Prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10 (sends a bunch of telemetry data to MS, reported to corrupt system files)
KB2970228 - Russian ruble symbol.
KB3021917 – Prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10
KB3068708 – Installs telemetry service, prepares system for upgrade to Windows 10
KB3080149 – Adds yet more telemetry
KB3172605 - (Optional Update KB3172605)
KB3179573 - Telemetry (KB3179573 - install or not?)
KB3181988 - Fixed bug in SFC scans caused by the convenience rollup (“Win 7 SP2”) KB 3125574
KB3184143 - Uninstalls several related and no longer needed updates on machines running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
Sorry about "teleme" in Title. Accidentally exceeded character allowance. Is "telemetry".
